RUCARR has its research focus on political, social, cultural, economic and other relations of significance within and between Russia, Ukraine and the Caucasus, on the one hand, and with neighboring states, on the other. Areas of expertise include, but are not restricted to, political, social and cultural dynamics and history, nationalism, ethnic and national identity, security issues, civil society development, authoritarianism and post-authoritarian transition and transformations.
